• MMI technology via demo applications with following components - Motion Detection System (core of next gen remote control): Intuitive, low cost and low power consumption with 3D Accelerometers for motion detection - Small footprint motion recognition algorithms/software with high accuracy and low motion data (IR rate) via reference implementation in ASTRI HD Digital Home STB/PVR HW platform • Patent in the following area: Usability and Motion/Gesture Recognition for TV related App in low data rate and corresponding channel coding algorithms.

Description:

As a continuity of seed project, (Motion Sensor MMI technology), this project will further research and develop the motion based MMI technologies to enhance the user experience as next generation of TV centric remote control. It will enrich user's experience of enjoying Interactive TV services (in particular for game) and innovative digital home application in the TV centric digital living.

Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research.
