Description:
The objective of this project is to develop a generic Home Media Center (HMC) iShare Media Sharing platform for the fast growing broadband and multimedia consumer electronics market. It builds upon existing HMC technology modules, and expand towards an embedded, versatile, many-to-many coordinated, and distributed content sharing and delivering platform. The HMC iShare platform supports place-shift and time-shift viewing capabilities on a cost-effective embedded system with H.264 video codec and networking technologies. It aims to overcome the many difficulties and challenges in utilizing Internet as a means for “broadcast” video content to the mass audience. The goal is to enable a TV/Media-Anywhere platform using existing internet infrastructure and broadly available consumer electronics devices to bring “LIVE” or stored video content to TV viewers & Internet users at Any Place and Any Time.
