Description:
Counterfeiting is one of the fastest growing economic crimes worldwide. Counterfeit products are now not limited to luxury goods. They have expanded into pharmaceutical and grocery products which are causing economic loss and a lot of anxiety and concerns in our society. It is estimated that counterfeit products now make up over 10% of world trade. UHF RFID has emerged as the best solution to combat counterfeiting. The objective of this project is to develop an Anti-Counterfeit Identification Microsystem (AIM) by the SiP (System-in-Package) technologies. This microsystem will allow users to use their existing cell phones to read UHF RFID tags. The information retrieved from reading the tag will be sent to a centralized database to authenticate the product. AIM is a tag-and-trace anti-counterfeit system that will allow the end users to authenticate products anytime, anywhere. It also provides a way for the goods suppliers and the governments to trace the origins of the counterfeited goods and the problematic distribution channels. With the AIM, the high-end good suppliers will have a way to stop counterfeit goods being distributed into the consumer market, and to protect their brand image and profits. There are few key technology components in the AIM. (1) A UHF-RFID Reader SiP in SIM card format (2) Innovative capacitive coupling antenna structure (3) Efficient cryptographic verification and logistics tracing system
