Description:

The proposed project is supported by the Hong Kong Transport Department (TD). The proposed project is to support Hong Kong Smart City Blueprint by adapting Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology in Hong Kong to improve road safety and enhance road efficiency in the future. It also supports Transport Department (TD) to verify the feasibility for C-V2X adaptation and deployment in Hong Kong, and to address the technical challenges and solutions in both R&D and non-R&D perspectives. Besides, the first C-V2X trial on public roads will be carried out in designated area in Hong Kong with the support of TD and related stakeholders, for realizing different C-V2X use cases in road safety and traffic efficiency, specific to Hong Kong deployment considerations.

The expected outcomes will be (1) the scope, requirements and specifications for the C-V2X trial in Hong Kong; (2) high level software design document of ASTRI’s C-V2X system software to be used in the C-V2X trial; (3) implementation of ASTRI’s C-V2X system software for system installation and provisioning; (4) evaluation report for performance and recommendations of the C-V2X trial, with the proposed “Hong Kong C-V2X specification and reference design” for the TD to consider possible C-V2X deployment and further scale out in other areas in Hong Kong to bring more benefits to the society; and (5) evaluation report of 5G features for assisting automated driving safety.
